Soft shell crab

The soft shelf crab lives along the Atlantic and Gulf coast, and is mainly found in the Chesapeake Bay. It prefers shallow protected waters around pilings or in grassy coves, seeking protection from its predators.

 

The soft shell crab is blue with a molting sage. Sold fresh, this crab is available in Hotel (4-4 ½ inches long), Prime (4 ½-5 inches), or Jumbo size (5-5 ½ inches).

This crab is excellent is salads, fried, stuffed, and in crab cakes.
